Startup India Registration Eligibility

The requirements for companies to be eligible for Startup India registration have been outlined in the Gazette Notification released by the DPIIT on February 19, 2019. The requirements have been developed according to when the business was incorporated, the type of business, limits on turnover and the nature of business operations. A list of all these requirements for eligibility has been provided below.

Conditions of Eligibility to be eligible for Startup India Registration

Date of incorporation Businesses should not be more than 10 years before the date of incorporation to qualify as startups.

The type of business Companies considered startups comprise a legally registered Partnership Firm, An LLP or a Private Limited Company. It is important to note that an entity not incorporated is not qualified to apply for Startup India Registration.

Turnover of Businesses The company's revenue deemed a Startup must not exceed Rs.10 crores during any financial years from the date of incorporation.

The nature of business activities The Startup's focus should be on improving the quality of existing products and services by inventing and ingenuity.

Results of the Business Activity The new venture should boost opportunities for employment in India by a significant amount. Furthermore, it has to aid in the development and growth of the Indian Economy.

Original Entity A business that qualifies as an initial startup has to be unique and not a result of the dissolution or reconstruction of an existing company.

The following are not qualified for Startup India Registration.

  • Sole Proprietorship
  • The notary partnership deed forms the firm.
  • If the annual turnover is more significant than INR 100 crores.
  • The company has been in existence for more than 15 years.

Procedure for Startup Registration

Startups that are that is established in India must be required to get acknowledgment through the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. Step 1 - Incorporate your Startup

The contract details will be verified using an OTP sent to the email address and mobile number. If you have successfully registered, you will receive your login ID and password to the email you have provided.

Step 3 - Login to the Startup India Portal

Log in using the login credentials you received via email to log in to your Startup India Portal. A form for application will appear on the screen. This form must be completed and returned for an effective startup registration.

Step 4 - Complete the application form for Startup Registration.

When filling out the application for registration as a startup, the first step is to select your startup's stage. The options available for the status of your startup are an ideation stage, where the concept of the business has been developed and validated when it is the product with the lowest value is being introduced to the market and initial growth when the startup has just begun earning revenue and gaining customers, as well as growing, in which the startup plans to increase its size.
