APEDA Registration for Exporter

For exporters of scheduled agricultural and processed food products, registration required under APEDA is required. It is mandatory to register under APEDA. The agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an agency of the Government of India constituted under the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985 to facilitate the development of exports of scheduled products through financial assistance, information, and statistics and formulating standards, as well as taking action to facilitate the development of scheduled goods. The items that are specified in the APEDA ACT are referred to as Schedule products.

All exporters scheduled to export their product(s) must sign up with APEDA. The registration application must be submitted within one month of the date of agreement to export unless Authority can extend the period for registration with a valid reason. This is a once-only registration valid and in force until it is terminated through the Authority.

The goal of APEDA

APEDA aims to boost the export and development of scheduled products. To attain this goal, various tasks are delegated by central authorities to the agency. The central government controls the Authority of the body. The Authority is required to comply with the directives issued and follow the rules laid out by central authorities to assist in the purpose of ensuring the efficient administration of the Act. The Act constitutes an added law and does not constitute an amendment to the enforceable provisions.

To apply for APEDA registration, an application must be submitted in writing to the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Once the application is completed and the applicant pays the application fee, the authority issues Registration Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC). The applicant needs to specify the primary branch of business at the time of applying to obtain CMC so that the application is referred to the appropriate commodities board and the Export Promotion Council relating to the particular line of business. 2. The application for registration must be made within one month after the date of the undertaking of export. However, the Authority can, for a good reason, extend the period for requesting APEDA registration to the period it considers necessary.

3. The registration is a one-time active and valid process until it is revoked through the Authority. Registered members are subject to the rules and regulations of the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act (APEDA ACT).

4. The Central government will be the governing authority. It will make the rules for prohibiting or restriction the import or export of products that are scheduled, and any person who violates any of these laws is liable to prison for a period that can extend up to one year or a fine or both, in along with confiscation and penalty provisions under the Customs Act.

5. Financial assistance is offered to registered members for branding publicity via advertisements, packaging design, surveys, consultancy, upgrading databases, and more.
