Renew IEC, Escape Deactivation, All India Incorporation Service Import Export Code Renewal
The Import Export Code is a non-permanent number assigned by DGFT to importers and exporters involved in international trade. But the IEC is required to be renewed each year from April to June to remain in use. If it is not renewed, it will result in the removal of the IEC.
You must be aware that the Import Export Code (IEC) is a unique PAN-based ID maintained by DGFT and is a mandatory requirement for any transaction involving either export or import. Although the IEC is a code that can be used for a long time, India's government, India, is, as of 2021, introducing an annual update requirement that applies to everyone with an IEC. The IEC update is an online process completed using DSC or Aadhar for the OTP to verify. The reason for this annual renewal of IEC is to provide accurate and up-to-date information about the company and customers of the DGFT portal. It is vital to keep the IEC regularly updated on an annual basis, with the accurate OTP Verified email addresses and mobile numbers for the business, to ensure that the database of the DGFT is accurate and reliable.
The DGFT, with its Trade Notice No 01/2021-22 of the 29th of April 2021, introduced the requirement for an annual update of the IEC, which has been obligatory from FY 2021-22. The IEC holders must update their IEC between April and June 2021. But, the deadline has been extended to 31st August 2021. The agreement further states that the failure to update will cause the deactivation of the IEC.
The deadline for renewing IEC Import Export Code is April through June. This means that the IEC holders must make the necessary measures to upgrade their e-IEC by the beginning of the fiscal year. The final date for filling out the IEC Renewal is 30th June. But, for FY 2021-22, due to the COVID pandemic, the deadline for making filing for the year-end IEC Renewal has been extended until the 31st of August 2021.
